This is the time of year when the lack of sun light , fear of flu and H1N1, and weather issues drives people into their homes. These issues can lead to feeling blue and difficult emotions. There are some things you can work on to help alleviate these side effects:
1. Work on you posture. It sounds so simple, but sitting and standing straight can be empowering. Be mindful of your bones’ needs for calcium and vitamin D (fortified mild and oj are filled with them). These fortifications can prevent kyphosis (curved hunchback).
2. Keep exercising! The endorphins are great, you get your blood flowing, and it helps you not pack on the typical winter 10.
3. When you’re doing your strength training, pilates, group classes or home DVD’s work your core. These are your anti0slouch muscles.
4. In addition to these physical corrections, try to catch a movie that makes you laugh. Get together with friends or have game night with your kids. Winter will be over soon and we can all get out and moving again.
